Dr Aimé Lumaka

Professor of Genetics, University of Kinshasa, DR Congo

Dr Aimé Lumaka is a Professor of Genetics at the University of Kinshasa (DR Congo). He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Human Genetics and Genomics at KU Leuven (Belgium). He is the Director of the Reference Center for Rare and Undiagnosed Diseases (CRMRND) in DR Congo, Chair of the H3Africa Rare Diseases Working Group, and PI of the African Rare Diseases Initiative (ARDI).

He is passionate about rare diseases. His work focuses on the use of Whole Genome Sequencing as the tool to foster the identification of novel rare diseases genes and improve care for rare diseases patients in Africa.
