Welcome Message from the Organizing Committee of the HGM2025
On behalf of the local organizing committee and HUGO, it is our great pleasure to invite you to the Human Genome Meeting 2025 on March 11th to 14th, 2025 in Durban, South Africa.
The theme of the HGM2025 – “From Africa to the World: Exploring African diversity through human genomes” reflects the focus on genomic diversity within and outside Africa which will be heavily involved in the scientific contents of the conference. HGM2025 will be a platform to highlight recent progresses in fascinating new scientific and technological advancements, such as ‘110,000 Genomes Project’ in South Africa. In addition, HGM2025 will bring in educational workshops and sessions for students and early-career scientists, combined with opportunities to present their works.
Durban is a sophisticated cosmopolitan city of over three million people – a city where east meets west – a city beneath which beats the pulse of Africa – city known as the home of Africa’s best managed and busiest port. The Outer West area of the city of Durban includes the beautiful Valley of a Thousand Hills, up the winding and picturesque Botha’s Hill. To the south of the centre of Durban is Amanzimtoti which is a popular KwaZulu-Natal or Zulu Kingdom seaside destination for the family. Umhlanga and Umdloti are the tropical paradise, which have been dubbed the ‘Riviera’ of Durban. We welcome you to experience one of the most lively and attractive cities in Africa and enjoy rich attractions, night life and gastronomy.
HGM 2025 will bring together renowned geneticists, clinicians, and doctors along with promising early-career professionals. We will have prominent keynote lectures, scientific sessions addressing recent advances in genomic research with a focus on diversity, and fruitful discussions to promote exchange of data and ideas. Drawing on a truly broad-reaching and international line up of experts, HGM2025 promises to be both a dynamic forum for scientific exchange and a unique opportunity to bring together global expertise all focused on the subject of “From Africa to the World: Exploring African diversity through human genomes”.
We look forward to welcoming you in Durban!
Yours sincerely,
